Naturalized Reptiles and Amphibians of the World
Hardcover. This work describes how 185 species of reptiles and 83 species of amphibians now living in the wild throughout the world were first introduced to their respective habitats and became naturalized. Details are provided on their present distribution and status in various countries, and their ecological and socio-economic impact on the native biota and local economies are discussed. All species discussed have been imported from their natural range to a new country by humans, either accidentally or intentionally, and have established self-maintaining populations in the wild. The author is a member of the World Conservation Union Species Survival Commission's Invasive Species and Reintroduction Specialist groups.
